Miley Cyrus, star of the Disney Channel's split personality smash Hannah Montana, mirrors her onscreen persona: a regular teen with a rock star alter ego. The platinum-selling music and TV sensation is a down home girl who works and plays with her dad Billy Ray Cyrus.

Although most young viewers don't remember her dad's mulleted "Achy Breaky Heart" days, it's clear that they love the father-daughter team: Hannah Montana is cable's most-watched show for kids; its first two albums have topped the charts; and the big-screen version topped the box office. While success has come with its ups (she earned an estimated $1 million per week while on tour) and downs (the brouhaha over her semi-clothed Vanity Fair photo), Cyrus continues to stake her claim in pop culture.

Cyrus’ The Last Song was released on March 31, 2010, and she is attached to star in two other films, Wings and LOL (Laughing Out Loud). In LOL, a remake of a 2008 French teen comedy, Cyrus plays "a daughter who is involved with all the wrong kids, doing drugs, failing school, but [...whose] mother has her on this perfect pedestal" and says "[She] just fell in love with the story."[60] Wings, based on the first novel in a planned four-book series written by Aprilynne Pike, would star Cyrus as Laurel, a fifteen year old who discovers she is a fairy.
Cyrus’ third studio album, Can't Be Tamed is scheduled for a worldwide release on June 22.The first single, "Can't Be Tamed", co-written and produced by Tim James, Antonina Armato and Cyrus,[64] premiered on MySpace on April 30 and will be released to radio on May 3. After releasing the album, Cyrus says she will likely take a break from the music industry in order to focus on her film career. She notes, "I've not taken like acting lessons or anything but it doesn’t mean I don’t need to because I’m sure I do [...] I’m probably going to go book an acting coach."
